Why does it recommend to not use more than four lights in-line?
This is for cooling reasons--because the lights are water-cooled, the assumption is that you will be running water from light-to-light. In this case, your water would not be cool enough after running through four lights to cool the 5th, 6th, etc...If you had four in a row, and you had a different feeding tube for each four lights, then this problem should be mitigated.
So is water touching the bulb?
Water is not touching the bulb. There are two layers of glass that make up the housing; the water flows in between these two layers to cool the bulb.
How much light is lost while passing through two layers of glass and one layer of water? Also, is the reflector built in?
If you look above, at the product pictures, you will see a Spectral Distribution Chart made using an Eye Hortilux bulb both with and without the Fresca Sol. From their testing, not only is light NOT lost, the added efficiency given by the 93% heat dissipation causes increases in available spectra. This data is from Fresca Sol's own tests, as we do not yet have the ability to properly measure light intensity or spectrum. The FrescaSol Complete comes with a reflector, but it is not "built in" in order to keep the device modular and flexible. It can easily be removed and reattached.
Is there any safety information on this product ? Should it be tilted at a 3 degree angle on the drain end ? Do you know of any heat sensors or no flow go switches for this product ?
There is currently no safety information for this product. There is information about how use them, which is posted on our site. Tilting is not necessary for drainage. We sell heat sensors for ducting that should work as a heat sensor, we can also get the No Flow No Go that is on Best Coast Growers website.
What is the min. & max. flow rate of this system, i.e. GPH? I'm looking to cool two 600w lights using a chilled 55 gal tank with a 275 gph pump.
Mike, I contacted the makers of FrescaSol, and they say that have not done any testing on max rate, and informed me that as long as there is through-flow they will cool. The GPH rate of the pump in this situation is not as important as the strength of the pump, as you will frequently be dealing with 7-8 feet of lift to get to the tubes in addition to your horizontal runs. If you let us know what pump you are using and what height your lights are at, we can let you know if it will be sufficient for the amount of lift you will need.
The PH MUST BE 7.5-8.0? Not sure what you mean by this. The plants pH level must be up that high or the water used to cool it?
The water used to cool the light. This will help prevent corrosion or oxidation of any type.
The Fresca Sol is the industry innovator featuring water cooled fixture engineered to take 93% of the heat produced from your HPS bulb and transfer it through water to a designated cooling reservoir.
Increased control over your growing environment is achieved using the Fresca Sol water cooled light. This product is a great addition to any type of system or application where heat is a problem for one reason or another.
The Fresca Sol unit will eliminate 93% of the heat from your 250, 400, 600 or 1000 HPS, and transfer it through water to a designated cooling reservoir. This unit allows you to combine your existing ballast and bulb with our water cooled light to achieve real cool results. With low thermal emission and less exhaust, this results in a higher concentration of CO2.
The Design:
The Fresca Sol end-plates are made from dependable billet aircraft aluminum, proving to withstand high temperatures. The tubes are made of durable borasilicate (Pyrex) glass, creating a very tough and reliable product.
In addition you can also exchange the heat from your bulb through water plumbed into your designated reservoir. Examples of water reservoirs include pools (in-ground and out of ground), Jacuzzi's, or even a horse trough. Providing a heated pool year round is yet another benefit that also leads to lower electric bills and saves you money while increasing yields.
There are additional optional features for your system such as the ?No Flow No Go? sensors, ?over heat? sensors as well as relays that control your lights and pumps for a fool proof system that shuts down at the first sign of a problem.
