How many amps does it draw at 120V & 240V?
This 1000w Quantum Digital Ballast draws 8.9 amps on 120v and 4.3 at 240v.
When dimming a 1000w ballast do you need a 750w bulb for 75% and 500w for 50%? I've seen 750w grow lights but I have never seen a 500w grow bulb. I really want to run 600w.
The directions for the Quantum 1000w dimmable ballast suggest using a 1000w bulb in all dimmable configurations. At the 50% setting this will reduce your power consumption to about 500w with your 1000w bulb. This will also reduce heat, making it more comparable to a 600w set up. Ideally, this is used to dim lights during hardening periods when moving from Veg to Bloom cycles, however many use it to run a cooler setup during hotter summer months when heat control is problematic then turn it up in winter. Digital bulbs are recommended when using electronic dimmable ballasts.
Please describe the process of changing wiring from 120v to 240v.
Simply change the cord from the standard 120v to an additional 240v, available here: http://www.greners.com/240-smart-volt-6-power-cord.html
Wondering about the warranty for Quantum ballasts either 1000 or 600.We live in Victoria BC Canada. Do we have to ship? Also what type of bulbs does the Quantum use. Will it take Plantmax 1000 watt PX-MX 1000/7200K? Can we have a reduced rate for an order of 8?
Quantum Ballasts have a 3 year no-hassle warranty. We handle shipping for the first 30 days, after that you will have to pay for return shipping. The Quantum Ballasts will use nearly any MH or HPS bulbs, but will get best results from bulbs designed specifically for the frequency of electronic ballasts.
